I put a thick layer of the 10mm rundle rock fines down as a base for my 16x16 paver blocks, and this stuff compacts really well on its own. I rented a 20-inch gas powered tamper and compacted the base even more. It's so great to walk on, and I almost don't want to cover it up with decorative rock and pavers.
