We had 3 cu. Meters delivered to our back gate and driveway. That was more than enough for our gardens. The mulch is very dry, that it is dried helps ensure no pests hitch a ride. The mulch was easy to spread with a wheel barrow and shovel, created a 2" to 3" thick layer. The garden smells like pine.
Keep in mind that mulch, especially thick dry mulch can prevent water getting down to the soil. After a couple waterings I had to move some of the mulch and discovered the soil was still dry underneath. You have to soak the garden to ensure the water is getting into the soil. This was a surprise as many advertise that mulch is good for reducing the heat in the soil and reducing the rate of evaporation. While this is true, the negative aspect of mulch is that it also absorbs water and prevents water from reaching the soil. Mulch stops weed growth in part by keeping the topsoil dry so seeds don't germinate. We have doubled the watering time on irrigation for the flower beds and I hand water newly seeded areas to ensure the new plants are getting enough water. Only one small issue, dispatch did not coordinate the driver's arrival time with us until they were on the way, and that caused some frustration for the driver and us. Recommend being clear about delivery times and driver communication. Good product, timely delivery, I would use them again!
